Wildflower Festival

Posted on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 1:43 am

If you love native plants or just want to learn about gardening and nature, the first Lake County Wildflower Festival is the place to visit. The festival and plant sale will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 9am to 2pm at Green Isle Gardens, 11303 SR 33, Groveland.
In addition to the beautiful native wildflowers, trees, shrubs, vines, and groundcovers for sale, this free event will have lots of activities the whole family can enjoy. The festival will feature presentations on insects, edible plants, propagation and companion planting, an opportunity to meet the authors and buy signed books from environmental consultant and educator Dr. Craig Huegel and ecologist David Rakes, and tours of the nursery. There will also be a food truck, kid’s activity area, silent auction, the UF/IFAS Mobile Plant Clinic, and nature-oriented vendors and displays. And if you’re an early riser, join the free yoga class at 8am.
You can find more information on the websites of the two Florida Native Plant Society chapters sponsoring the event: Passionflower.fnpschapters.org/lake-count-wildflower-festival/ and LakeBeautyberrry.fnpschapters.org. FNPS members, even those who join at the event, will receive a 10% discount on plant purchases.
