Open House – Friday, August 10th, 1-3pm
School begins Monday, August 13, and Webster Elementary invites parents and students to our Open House Celebration on Friday, August 10 from 1-3pm. Have lunch, meet local agencies and businesses, meet your teacher and visit classrooms. Plans include free haircuts, school supplies, coupons for businesses, and Webster Elementary students are invited to enjoy bounce houses! Many agencies, churches, and businesses are working to support this event and we encourage you to join us! Parents may park on the south side of the school or across the street. Class lists will be posted in the courtyard.
Snacks will be provided for families. AVID orientation for students in 2nd through 5th grade and their parents will be held in the auditorium starting at 1:30pm. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, a nationally recognized program which helps students to be more focused, organized and take responsibility for their learning. Pre-K orientation will be held in the media center/library starting at 1:30pm. Parents may visit classrooms following the orientations.
New student registration can be completed throughout the summer, Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm. Make sure to bring a current physical, birth certificate, social security card, and immunization records. Please register your child as early as possible. School supply lists can be found at Wal-Mart in Bushnell.
The district will provide bus transportation for zoned children living beyond walking distance from the school. Children who will be bus riders are encouraged to ride the bus on the morning of the first day of school to assist the driver in locating stops. For bus information, such as stop location, bus number, arrival and departure time, please call 793-5705.
Please help us with clear information by having children in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade wear an identification tag giving their name, telephone number, bus number, parents’ names, and a complete address to their home. If a young student is driven to school by parents, an identification tag with the same information is requested plus an explanation about how the child will return home in the afternoon.
School begins at 7:55, and students are tardy if they arrive after 8:00. Breakfast is served from 7:30 – 7:50. The school day ends at 2:30. Children driven to and from school must be delivered and picked-up at the pick-up area on the south side of the school. This area is open from 7:30-7:50am and 2:30 – 2:50pm. For safety reasons, parents must park and walk their child into the office if they arrive after the drop off area is closed. This year breakfast and lunch will be free for all students. More information to come about free meals will be provided when school starts.
We look forward to meeting all our parents as we start a new school year. For questions concerning any school information or requirements please call the school at 793-2828. See you August 10th for the Open House Celebration and all students for the first day of school on August 13th!
