African Methodist Church recalls African American History!

Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church in Royal will recognize African American History Month with a program each Sunday in February. "We live our history every day; our history is rich enough to deserve its own month. We are looking forward to fellowshipping with all of you," stated Lillian Spyies, Retired Educator and Program Chairman.
On Sunday, February 5th, the day begins with 9:30am Church (Sunday) School. At 11am, a portrayal of the A.M.E. Church Founder, Bishop Richard Allen and his wife, Sarah Allen will be performed by youth members: Simone Wilson, Robert Michael Lee and Vanity Angel Kelly. Bishop Allen was the church's first Bishop.
On Sunday, February 12th, 9am, Sister Catherine Latimer will highlight the rich history of the Community of Royal.
Sunday, February 19th, will begin with Church (Sunday) School, 9:30am and 11 am morning worship service. At 3pm, the day ends with an old fashioned Pew Rally where family and friends come together to have a good time worshipping our Savior, our Lord. Also, Ms. Martha White, an Orange County Teacher and BCU Alumnus, will present Dr. Mary McCloud Bethune's last will and testament. Special song selections rendered by the Royal Male Chorus and the JRE Lee Alumnus Choir under the direction of Evangelist Mary DeBose, a noted local soloist and musician.
The celebration ends on Sunday, February 26th, with 9am morning worship. Then at 2pm, the day ends with a big bang as Evangelist and author Wounder Kelly speaks from her heart. Ms. Kelly is a native of Royal, who lives in Savannah with her husband, father, son, daughter and grandchildren. She is the author of 'From Captivity to Freedom', a personal journey from victimization to victory. Immediately following the program, an old fashioned soul food dinner will be served.
The month's activities are sponsored by the church's Trustee Board with Sister Lillian Spyies as Chair and Brother Dossie Singleton as Co-Chair. Under the direction of Reverend Robert Dixon, Pastor and Sister Lillie Dixon, 1st Lady.
