Granville Beville 2234, Bushnell United Daughters of the Confederacy held a meeting on Dec 3, 2011 at the home of Joyce White in Bushnell. A lovely brunch was enjoyed by all. A Poem "Christmas in the Camp" By Dianne Drake Boren Poet Laureate 2010-2012, Florida Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy was read by Bettye Jemison. Two $25 gift cards will be given to the Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service of the Orlando VA to be given to Homeless Veterans in need. A collection was taken up to be given to the James Hailey Hospital in Tampa for their Christmas Party this year. Forty-three towels, hand towels and washcloths have been collected for the Tampa Crossroads for the homeless women veterans.

Plantation Christmas is Dec 11 at Gamble Planation in Ellenton, FL. The program was given by Joyce White on the Flags of the Confederacy: The First National Flag - "Stars and Bars "The seven stars on the version of the flag represent the seven original confederate States: South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas. Additional stars were added for the later admission of Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri. This flag is also known as the Daughters Flag. The Confederate Battle Flag - "Southern Cross" (square). This design was presented to Congress on March 4, 1861. Naval Battle Flag - C.S.A. Jack Flag. The Confederate navy Jack was a rectangular version of the Battle Flag with the white border around the outside omitted. The new design of the flag was adopted on May 1, 1863 includes the Battle Flag in the canton on a field of pure white.
