In an initiative to connect local agriculture to the lives of residents, the UF/IFAS Extension Sumter County will be providing a four-part series. The “Sumter Life” program will cover: work-life balance, meal planning, edible landscaping, savvy consumers (food myths that hurt your wallet), mis-labeling of foods, Fresh from Florida/locally grown foods. On the final evening, the program will conclude with a producer panel made up of farmers and ranchers who locally produce food in Sumter County. Participants who attend all four sessions will receive a prize package valued at $60.
The event will take place April 15, 22, 29 and May 6 from 6-8 pm. Eventbrite pre-registration is required and the class fee is $30. Youth programming will be provided by 4-H in a separate room for youth ages 5-12.
