New Coaches for Equestrian Program

Sumter County Special Olympics Equestrian Program has five newly certified coaches. Yearly training was held in Oldsmar at Bakas Equestrian Center.
The Sumter County Equestrian Team is based at Legend Farms in Bushnell. Each of our coaches specializes in various disciplines. Head Coach Rose Marie Martin oversees the entire program. Karen Specht. Kathy Beville is in charge of trail course design and desensitizing horse and rider. She is also a Certified Judge for the Southern Obstacle Challenge Association. Rebbeca Emerson Is responsible for horse care and is a certified American Ranch Horse Association Show Secretary and Marketing Automat Consultant. Chris Sheats’ expertise is common sense working with people and livestock.
There are three tiers that have to be completed to become a certified equestrian coach. Coach re-certification is required every three years. The Sumter Special Olympics Equestrian Program is the Community Service of the 4-H Muckateers.
