Sumter County Historical Society is proud to invite you to enter our “Name our newsletter” contest. To honor the fact that Sumter County was established on January 8, 1853, a member has donated a collectable 1853 coin to be awarded to the winner of this contest.
January of 2018, SCHS sent out their first “newsletter” to all paid members. The goal of this quarterly newsletter is to provide dates for upcoming activities, featured articles about pioneers of our county and encourage more membership. The response was very positive and members enjoyed reading the article about Lugenia Culbreath, a charter member of SCHS, information about our latest DVD, “Secrets of the Withlacoochee” and our cookbook, “Taste of History. The newsletter also reached out for information about the picture above taken in Coleman in the early 1900’s at the “Warm Springs Hotel”. Our spring newsletter would like to feature this gathered information about this historic photograph.
But, SCHS needs a name for their newsletter! Send us your idea for a name for our quarterly newsletter and you could win the valuable 1853 collectable coin! PLEASE SEND your suggestion to: SCHS, 217 Market Street, Bushnell, Fl. 33513.
Be sure to include YOUR NAME, e-mail or mailing address and phone number so we can contact you! Or, you can join us March 22nd at our meeting to give us your suggestion. SCHS meets at their museum, located in Bushnell at 217 Market Street at 7:00p.m. The winner will be announced in our next named newsletter in April!
