A Pawn USA has spent months trying to find the family of US Navy World War II veteran, Aldene Williams to get his military death flag back to his family. Two of his daughters, Ernestine Williams Swann (73) and Essie Mae Barton (77), came into came into A Pawn USA to pick up the flag for free. They lost contact of the flag after one of their sisters passed away and her home was foreclosed on. The flag came into A Pawn USA from a gentleman that bought it at a garage sale. Owner Josh Barkan was eager to get the flag back to the family. He enlisted Marketing Manager Taryn Bushman to find the family. After months of research it came down to an obituary that gave the link to living relatives’ names. Ernestine picked up the phone and the connection was made. The flag now rests in the hands of the family. The flag will be given to a nephew that has joined the military.
