The Lady Lake Public Library, located at 225 W. Guava Street, in Lady Lake, Florida will host an ABC of Dementia workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 17, 2019. It is free and open to the public.
The workshop, to be conducted by Certified Dementia Practitioner Debbie Selsavage, will define Alzheimer’s and dementia, explain how dementia affects individuals, discuss ways to interpret dementia behaviors for better communication, and show how compassion and the proper use of voice, approach, and appropriate touch can result in more effective and less stressful care giving.
The workshop will also include a report on Alzheimer’s research and clinical trials. Each participant will receive educational handouts and information about the Alzheimer’s Family Organization, a non-profit that serves caregivers for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
