JOHN D. MOORE, JR., born January 2, 1932, in Sumterville, Florida, passed away December 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Nellie Ruth Howard Moore and John Daniel Moore. He is survived by his lovely wife of 65 years, Lila Miracle Moore. Additionally, he is survived by his three children; two sons, John Daniel Moore, III and Timothy Dwayne Moore (Kimberly) and one daughter, Diana Moore Evans (Joseph); five grandsons: Tony, Daniel, Addison, David and Dillon; four granddaughters: Stacy, Dia, Jessica and Crystal; two great grandchildren, Sean and Sierra. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Ioannidis (Nick). John joined the Army in 1949, serving his country proudly in Korea, where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart and Korean Presidential Unit Citation. Subsequently, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with Oakleaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Republic of Vietnam with two overseas service bars, Good Conduct Medal, (4th and 5th Award) and Army Accommodation Medal. After more than 20 years of active duty, John retired with his wife and family to St. Petersburg, Florida to work for the United States Postal Service. After retirement from USPS, he returned to his hometown of Sumterville, Florida and enjoyed his remaining years in retirement. Burial at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
