The Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County has opened up a “re-tails” sales booth at the Wildwood Antiques Mall at 364 Shopping Center Drive on State Road 301. Many of their supporters have suggested that they open a thrift store again. Recently, they found a way to return to that idea without such a large commitment of resources. And in typical fashion, their wonderful volunteers and community jumped in with great enthusiasm. “As always, we appreciate all the different ways people show their support for our Humane Society to help us fund our vital work. Time will tell how this idea works out for us and if it’s a success, we will look into expanding the thrift store concept” noted Celine Petrie, Chairman of the HS/SPCA.
Their booth space has been up and running for a month or two as they continue to gather donations. Shoppers and animal lovers are invited to stop by, browse the wide range of items and shop to their heart’s content knowing their donations and purchases will help local animals in need. Donated items, mainly vintage or antique, are gratefully appreciated, but prior to donating them, call their HS/SPCA office at 352-793-9117 for details.
