Hog County Amateur Radio Club

On Saturday, September 1, 2018, the Hog County Amateur Radio Association of Sumter County, Florida conducted their first Amateur Radio License VE Exam. This exam is for people who have studied for and are ready to take their exam in order to obtain an FCC (Federal Communication Commission) issued amateur radio operator’s license. Alternatively, for already licensed Amateur Radio Operators to upgrade their current license.
The hobby of amateur radio is an awesome hobby but it also can be a live-saving ability to communicate and get help for you, your family or a total stranger in time of need. Or to volunteer in areas before, during and after natural or man-made disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, forest fires or even terrorist attacks.
Amateur radio is also a great educational vehicle for your kids, especially home schooled kids. The hobby covers but is not limited to math, science, history, space, geography, electronics, electricity, and much more to include hands-on projects.
