Sofiya Covarrubias, Lucah Dixon and Derra Dixon serve up breakfast and lunch this past weekend for the reenactors and volunteers at the WWII commemorative event at Dade Battlefield. The group solicited local groups and individuals to donate the food or monetary donations. As a result, they were able to provide a much appreciated home cooked meal for the special guests.
The next event will be a workday at Dade Park on March 27th. The students will meet from 2-6 (half day at SSHS) to do some “spring cleaning”. Of course, food will follow all the hard work! It is a win win for students to log in a few more hours, get to help support their local state park and get fed!
The group now has accumulated a grand total of 1,930 hours since last June. 57 students have been approved to be state park volunteers and 32 of these 57 students have logged in 20+ hours! And two have close to 200 hours!
