    1. Steve Smith Charity Golf Classic
      8:30 am – 1:00 pm

After 11 years, New Beginnings of Central Florida is changing the name of their annual golf tournament. The event, to be played on September 28 at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge, is one of three major fundraisers for New Beginnings.
Steve Smith founded New Beginnings of Central Florida and recently passed the baton of leadership to Stephanie Harris, Executive Director. She and the golf event committee unanimously agreed to name the tournament after Steve Smith. They hope it honors the decade he and his wife, Linda, have given to fight against homelessness, empowering people in poverty to achieve self-sufficiency.
“I can think of no better way to honor my predecessor,” says Stephanie, “than to give his name to a game that he loves in support of a cause that he loves even more.”
To join the growing team of sponsors or to sign up as a golfer at the Steve Smith Charity Golf Classic, please visit www.nbcfl.org/golf For additional questions, contact Shannon Herrera by phone (813.833.9065) or email her: shannon@nbcfl.org
Since January of this year, New Beginnings has helped 1,809 families and 6,550 individuals at weekly Saturday outreaches and in their three social services locations (Clermont, Winter Garden and Kissimmee). The organization has distributed 2,675 bags of emergency groceries to people in need. The organization relies heavily on volunteers and community support – more than 11,820 hours have been donated by volunteers in the first five months of 2018.
The tournament will be held September 28, 2018, 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Orange County National Golf Course, 16301 Phil Ritson Way, Winter Garden, FL 34787.

    1. Greyhound Adoptions
      12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Come join us on Saturday, October 6th, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Irish Trails Farm & Pet Supply in Clermont at 102 S. Hwy 27, Clermont, FL 34711 (352) 243-0924 to meet retired racing greyhounds ready for adoption. This beautiful and ancient breed makes an ideal house pet due to their gentle nature. They shed very little and, despite their speed, can be quite calm. In fact, in retirement, they are known as “the 40 mile an hour couch potato”. These are mature, adult dogs and they transition very easily into homes. Most get along great with other dogs and children and many are cat friendly, as well. Get to know these wonderful animals and speak with local greyhound owners. God’s Greyts Greyhound Group 407-578-7496. Find out more at www.godsgreyts.com
