Butterfly Expert and Author to Lead Nature BioBlitz Series at The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail

Posted on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 1:10 am

Join us Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 10:30am-12:30pm as we enjoy a guided tour of B.B.Brown’s Gardens at Florida Scrub-Jay Trail in search of butterflies and other hidden gems.
Butterfly expert Dr. Marc Minno will continue his series of workshops in Clermont, FL.
This 2-hour session will focus on how the hurricanes can change the types of butterflies we are seeing at this time of year and increase our awareness of the natural world around us. By sharpening our powers of observation and interpretation, we will see nature in a new light by observing the things that are “hidden in plain sight”.
Butterfly surveys will allow us to track monarchs and other butterflies. We’ll learn what plants we should put in our gardens to attract specific butterflies and birds. Gopher Tortoises, wild edible plants, insects, both friend and foe, and native plants will all be carefully studied in the natural habitat of The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail in Clermont, FL.
This program is open to students, adults and nature lovers of all ages. Cost is $10 each per session for members of The Florida Scrub-Jay Trail (www.scrubjaytrail.org) and $15 each per session for non-members.
This class will be September 14, 2019, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at The Florida Scrub Jay Trail, 11490 Montevista Road, Clermont, FL. Class sizes will be kept to a minimum, so early registration is suggested.
