Fall is in the air and so is the buzz about this year’s America’s Mighty Warriors Military Race! For the third consecutive year the Clermont Triathlon Club will be sponsoring this challenging and fun event to honor our local veterans and service members—and raise money for the AMW charity. This low-cost event has something for all ages and ability levels. There are 3 options for participants—you can do a 2-mile walk/run or you can do a 2 or 4-mile walk/run that includes exercise stations for each branch of the military. This year Debbie Lee, Gold Star Mom and founder of America’s Mighty Warriors charity, will be flying in from Arizona to attend the race which will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 10:00 AM at Clermont’s Historic Village. Although the Village is not usually open at that time, the World War Museum housed in a Quonset hut will be open for race participants and watchers.
Prior to the start of the race, the Clermont Battalion–U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps will present the colors and some of our local veterans will be recognized and honored. Participants will receive custom dog tags and the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be passing out flags at the end of the race. Top finishers will receive awards.
This race is made possible by the financial support of its Presenting Sponsor, KB Home and is produced by Clermont Triathlon Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5277 of Clermont. In partnership with race director, Josh Castleman, new co-race director, Command Sergeant Major Michael Stout (U.S. Army, Retired), is also working to make this a great event. Other event sponsors include: City of Clermont, Clermont Historic Village, Suncreek Brewery, Full Potential Fitness Endurance Coaching, Jordan Greenwood Photography, Chill Cryosauna, & Grumpy Bert’s BBQ Food Truck.
